Corinne J. (Cavanaugh) Block age 79 of Brockton formerly of Quincy died January 1, 2015 at Baypointe Rehabilitation Center of Brockton after a lengthy illness. She was born in Nova Scotia and raised in Quincy a daughter of the late John and Florence (Stewart) Cavanaugh.
A graduate of Quincy High School and UMass Amherst, Corinne retired as a research editor for Houghton Mifflin in Boston. Previously she had been a children’s librarian for the cities of Quincy, Springfield and Watertown.
Corinne was a lady always on the go. She enjoyed attending concerts and many cultural events in Boston. She will be remembered as a giving and compassionate woman who was always ready to help someone in need.
Corinne was the mother of Andrea Block Clark of Gloucester, VA, grandmother of Murry E. Clark, Jr. of Gloucester, VA and sister of Ron Cavanaugh of West Bridgewater, MA.
A Memorial Service will be held for Corinne on Saturday June 13, 2015 at 11 am at the Union Congregational Church, 136 Rawson Rd., Quincy, MA 02170. Donations in Corinne’s name may be made to the Thomas Crane Library 40 Washington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
