Cristiano Couto Centeio (Frenk) was born on January 17, 1925 to Porfirio Centeio and Maria Jesus Couto in Atalaia, Fogo, Cabo Verde. On June 3, 2020, Cristiano Couto Centeio loving husband of Miquelina Alves Baptista Centeio of 62 years, passed away peacefully in his home in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was one of 8 siblings and is survived by, his youngest brother Henrique Couto Centeio.
He leaves behind 8 Children; Maria Socorro Lopes & husband Pedro, Porfirio Antonio (NhoNho), Mariajesus Arredondo (Dju-dju) & husband Gustavo, Pedro Henrique (Fidjinho) & wife Jacqueline, Jose Cristiano (Nho Marco) & wife Sophia, Maria Olivia Hatcher (Mia) & husband Lee, Christina, Mikki Pereira & Husband Nuno.
Frenk as we called him was also known as Cascaqueijo. In the 1940s during his formative years he was a fisherman who assisted to help feed his family during the famine. Later in his 20s he also worked as a merchant who traveled between Portugal and Cabo Verde. He had an incessant passion for learning and valued education. This transitioned him into the role of a prominent Catholic school teacher in Atalaia. He enjoyed the subjects of math, history and geography. His teaching career included educating many of his family members.
In April 1967 he immigrated to the United States of America. He worked hard to provide a better opportunity for his family. After working for a few years, he was able to bring his wife and children to the United States. He worked in a steel mill until his retirement in the early 1980s. He assisted in raising many of his grandchildren.
Frenk was a man of deep Catholic Faith, who taught all his children and grandchildren, the importance of having God in their life, praying the rosary and always being good to others.
He was a father figure to many and was loved by all who met him. He made everyone feel special by using the term of endearment "Cascaqueijo". He loved to play bisqua, dominoes and orin (macala). He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He also leaves behind 19 Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren Luis, Isabel C., Ezekiel and Aristoteles Martins.
