Obituary

Cynthia B. Carpender, 72, of Brockton passed away Monday January 24, 2026.

The family of Cynthia "Cindy" Carpender is deeply saddened by her passing after a lengthy illness.

Cindy lived a life of humble means and did what she could to help those around her. Cindy gushed over her pets. She loved her soap operas and other TV shows, trips to Foxwoods, bingo and card games with her family and friends. She genuinely enjoyed the fun times with family.

Cindy was the backbone of her family through the years right up until it was time for them to be the backbone for her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed teasing and joking with them. Her grandchildren affectionately remember weekend visits and cook outs at "nana's" all throughout their childhoods. They put a name to her back yard and would look forward to playing with each other at "The Rock". So many memories. We will always save a piece of cake for nana.

Cindy retired from the VA Medical Center in Brockton in 2014, ending an estimated 35 year career working with Paralyzed Veterans. Her children have fond memories of younger years, watching her play on the company softball team with her coworkers, participate in company talent shows and being mentioned at award ceremonies. She was truly dedicated and loved her patients as well as co-workers who became friends and family.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter Heather-Ann Feeney and her husband Derek of Brockton, son Joseph F Carpender Jr. and his wife Heidi of Carver, and daughter- Lisa Hope Luppino of Brockton; her brothers Raymond F. "Jimmy"Clinton of Brockton and Donald E. Clinton and his wife Karen of Brockton; her grandchildren Amanda-Leise Rodrigues and her husband Chad of Fall River, Jeremy Petrosso of Fall River, Brook-Lyn Petrosso of Swansea, CTI2 Sarah L. Feeney, Ft Gordon, GA, US Navy, Shayna, Andrew and Avery-Rayne Feeney of Brockton, Joseph, III, Justin, Tyler and Courtney Carpender of Carver, and Kaylie and Alivia Luppino of Stoughton; her great-grandchildren Cooper and Cash Rodrigues of Fall River and Oliver Petrosso from Fall River; and lifelong best friend Karen Garcia.

Cindy is preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Carpender; mother Catherine "Terry" (Slad) Clinton of Brockton; brother- John P. Clinton; and lifelong friend and life partner John Sousa.

A celebration of life will be determined at a later date for friends of Cindy to gather with her family to remember her fondly. She is going to be missed and remembered by all.
