Cynthia Helen Shay, 76, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at her home in Brockton. Cynthia was born on January 18th, 1948 raised in Whitman MA, was the daughter of the late William Earl Wyman and Helen (Rittenberg) Wyman. Cynthia was the wife of the late Frederick Patrick Shay whom she was married to for 43 years.

Her Siblings included Michael and Jane Wyman, Andrea Schmalz and Mary Harper.

Cynthia was a graduate from Whitman-Hanson High School. She took great pride in her studies and participation as a majorette. After High School she went on to earn a degree in Business where she worked many years as an administrative assistant. She worked her way up the ladder as a top tobacco buyer for Garber Bros until she retired to spend time with her family.

Cynthia married Frederick Patrick Shay on March 24, 1973 at the Church of Holy Ghost in Whitman MA. Following was the birth of her two daughters Melissa and Leanne.

Cynthia was an avid lover for sports her Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers, playing bingo most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her children Melissa (Shay) Cardoso, son in law Nirsebel Cardoso, Leanne (Shay) Rosario and son in law Ricardo Rosario. She was a loving and devoted grandmother (Mimi) to nine grandchildren who she adored: Jessica McGinn, Ryan McGinn, Lexie Rosario, Cameron McGinn, Jadyn Rosario, Nerissa Cardoso, Darrion Cardoso, Madison Rosario, Mason Rosario and great granddaughter Julianna Poce.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 20th at Holy Ghost Parish, 518 Washington Street, Whitman at 9:00AM.  Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:00PM where she will be reunited together again with her late husband Frederick P Shay.
