Bridgewater/West Bridgewater – Daniel Walter McNeill of Bridgewater and West Bridgewater passed away on Saturday February 10, 2024 surrounded by family at the age of 91.

Dan was born March 28, 1932 in Saint John New Brunswick, Canada. He emigrated to the United States with his wife and children in 1960. He owned and operated his own business, Dan's Service Center, for 40 years in West Bridgewater where he was a fixture in the community. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family at their Cape house in South Dennis. He loved fishing, puttering around his homes, winters in Florida, and being surrounded by his family and grandchildren, who affectionately called him pop. He was a proud and active member of the Lions Club. Dan was elected as a Corporator of Bridgewater Savings Bank in 1978. He also served as a Director/Trustee for Bridgewater Savings Bank from 1985 – 2004 and named honorary Trustee in 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Barbara, his son Michael McNeill of West Bridgewater, daughter Danielle and her husband Michael Carriere of Bridgewater, his grandson Joseph McNeill-O'Brien and his partner Brigid Sawyer of Alexandria, VA, his granddaughter Grace Carriere of Bridgewater, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah, his brothers and their wives: Francis and Shirley McNeill, John and Agnes McNeill, and Joseph McNeill.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, February 15 from 4 – 7 pm at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt 28) in West Bridgewater. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday February16th at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt 28) in West Bridgewater. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
