In Loving Memory of Dr. Rev. Bishop Daniel Ogando.
Pastor Daniel E. Ogando of Brockton, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Edner Ogando and Anne Maricile Ogando (neé Malary), he was born January 28, 1943 in Hinche, Haiti. Growing up in Haiti, Pastor Ogando completed high school at Lycée Dumarsais Estimé. During his youth, he was an excellent student and a great sportsman. He was an avid swimmer and served as captain of the volleyball and soccer teams. He went on to attend seminary at the Institut Biblique de la Fondation Mission Haitienne par la Foi. While attending seminary, he worked as a travel agent in Port au Prince. All the while he courted and married his beautiful, or as he would like to say in creole, his shelbé wife Marie Carole Ogando (neé Pimentel) in 1973. Upon completing seminary he returned to his hometown and began a lifelong career of service. He was a teacher at Saint Martin de Porés and College Lysius Salomon, where he was affectionately known as "Maître Da." He subsequently went on to become the Secretary to the Mayor of Hinche, Secretary of the Prefecture and Director of Social Services.
In 1982, Pastor Ogando departed his home country and came to America. He was later joined by his immediate family in 1983. He went on to found the First Brockton Haitian Church in 1984. He has pastored this congregation for 37 years. However, his calling to serve the Lord started when he was young. He served as one of the youngest preachers and Superintendent of the Sunday School department at Premiere Eglise Baptiste de Hinche. Fellowship and sharing the word of God was his joie de vivre.
Pastor Ogando leaves to mourn yet rejoice and give thanks for his life, a loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Marie Carole Ogando; their children: Genzy and Franklin Davis, Styve and Krystle Ogando, Dr. Carme and Maccly Saintil; his grandchildren whom he adored: Taylor and Kennedy Davis, Ayden and Amelia Saintil, and Atlas Ogando; his sisters: Marie Yolette Jussome and Jacqueline Lacorne; his mother in law: Anna Julie Pimentel; his sisters in law: Carline Pimentel and Suze Pimentel; his brothers in law: Ebel Pimentel and Eder Pimentel; his nieces: Dominique Jean, Marie Ketty Jussome, Marie Gerda Jussome, Jocelyne Ogando, Angie Ogando, Sabine Lacorne, Lizbeth Lacorne and Eisha Cherubin; his nephews: Guy Jussome and Roger Ogando; his aunt: Louisiane Malary; his best friend and brother: Pastor Jean Carne Pierre; along with numerous cousins and friends.
Pastor Ogando will truly be missed. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He will be remembered for his generosity, his kindness, his teasing jokes, his entertaining stories, enthusiasm for the New England Patriots, and as a faithful servant of God.
Calling hours will be held in the Brockton Haitian Church, 940 Main St. Brockton on Saturday, June 19th from 8:00 AM-9:30AM followed by a funeral service starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
