Obituary

Daniel J. Powers, 48, of Middleboro, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack Sunday,

May 25, 2025. He was the devoted and loving husband of Angel L. (Morey) Powers.

Born November 1, 1976 in Stoughton and raised in Randolph, he was the son of David G.

Powers, Jr. and Rose M. (Petitpas) Powers.

Even as a toddler, it was evident he was something special. With his devilish smile and happy

go lucky spirit, he was the kid that knew everybody in the neighborhood (he was on a first name

basis with the mailman). Dan grew up riding dirt bikes and four wheelers with his brothers. The

boys, with the crew of their cousins, would take off on bicycles and ride for miles to their aunts

houses. As he grew older, Dan spent many nights making memories playing poker and

playstation with "the boys".

Dan attended Martin E. Young Elementary School and JFK Junior High School. Dan started

playing Pop Warner football when he was eight years old. He was a dominant player for his age

earning him the nickname "Otis". He continued to be a force on his teams all throughout his

childhood. He went on to play football and study carpentry at Blue Hills Regional Technical

School. He spent his school years making friends, sharing his infectious personality, and was

unsurprisingly voted Prom King his senior year before graduating in 1994.

Dan met Angel, the love of his life, in 1996. They lived in Westerly, RI, and New London, CT

before moving to Randolph, MA in 2005. After 10 years of dating, Dan and Angel married in

Norwich, CT in 2006. Before moving to Middleboro, MA in 2020, they were blessed with three

beautiful children, Danica (13), Sydney (12), and Hudson (9).

Dan was always a big sports fan, and his love for football was passed down to his children.

Nearly every night of the week, Dan could be found supporting the kids at practice, be it football,

baseball, basketball, or dance. He never missed a single game, recital, or live-stream of a

weekend-long dance competition. His kids were his absolute pride and joy. When he wasn't at

the field or doing "pick-ups" at the studio, Dan enjoyed camping, listening to music by the fire,

setting off random fireworks in his backyard, and just simply living life.

Dan was a skilled carpenter and a licensed construction supervisor. He worked for PBZ

Construction for over 10 years prior to working as an independent contractor. Dan is known in

his professional community for taking great pride in his work. He was an extraordinarily talented

carpenter whose skills, passion, and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of his work.

Dan lit up the room with his infectious smile and larger than life personality. Dan would make

any stranger feel like they were lifelong buddies. Leaving an impression on so many people, he

was a man of many friends and many names. Around town, he was known as Dan, Danny, and

Dano.

In addition to Dave and Rose, Dan is survived by his wife, Angel L. (Morey) Powers; his

children, Danica, Sydney, and Hudson; his brothers' David and wife Liz (Chancey), Thomas and

wife Kristen (Kenney), and sister April (Powers) Sampson and husband Mickey; his father and

mother-in-law, Don and Lynn (Baldwin) Morey and brother and sister-in-law, James and Crystal

(Morey) Gallagher. Dan will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews; Sammie, Ally,

Skyla, Jaxson, Niki, Emma, Hope, Mick, Ashley, Dusty, Kaitlyn, Regan, Belle, Hannah, Riley,

David, Casey, Ashley, and Avery.
