Dante “Dan” Porrino, Jr. age 82 of Brockton, died Friday September 11, 2015 at West Acres Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Eleanor Joan (Voci)Porrino for 57 years. Dan was born and educated in Brockton, a son of the late Dante and Alice (Bedore) Porrino and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Dan was a construction worker with Local 721 International Laborers Union for over 30 years. In his retirement he had worked at Foot Joy Shoe in Brockton.
In his youth, Dan was an amateur boxer in the Brockton area. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing the lottery, trips to casinos and following the Red Sox. He especially enjoyed his trips to Disney World. Dan will be remembered as a warm, generous and caring man with a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife he leaves five children David Porrino of Lakeville, Nancy Porrino of Seattle, WA, Thomas Porrino of Costa Mesa, CA, Linda Porrino of DuPont, WA and Sharon Duda of Waltham. He leaves three grandchildren Sheila Porrino, Gregory Durfee and Alexandrea Porrino. He was the brother of Richard Porrino of Port Charlotte, FL and the late Alice Langley. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and his 2 cats Smokey and Sal.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Tuesday Septemeber 15, 2015 from 4-7pm followed by a funeral service at 7pm. Please consider donations in Dan’s name to the charity of your choice.
