Darnell O. Harrison
Darnell Oliver Harrison, 26, of Brockton and Framingham, passed from this earthly realm on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. He was born on September 24, 1983 in Boston to proud and excited parents Oliver M. Turner and Tonya L. Harrison. Darnell was raised and educated mainly in Framingham. He moved to Brockton in 2000.
During his years in Framingham, Darnell was often the talented lead actor in school plays. He was also lead singer in school concerts. Throughout his teen and young adult years, Darnell wrote several songs. He was blessed not only with a voice to sing but also to put his heartfelt thoughts to lyrics. Darnell excelled in Athletics; he played football, basketball and participated in track activities. To culminate his high school education; Darnell was awarded the General Equivalency Diploma.
In addition to his musical and athletic abilities, Darnell Harrison possessed an entrepreneurial spirit. God, the giver of every good and precious gift, gave Darnell a vision to develop a program for troubled youth. His well thought out program was designed to keep youth off the streets and out of jail with a litany of services and resources to enable them to stay on course. His aspiration was to utilize his myriad of experiences and this program to also become a motivational speaker. Darnell's heart had become turned to young people at-risk and he believed his speaking would serve to deter youth from the streets.
Darnell was loved by many. In addition to his parents, he leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Jermai T. Harrison and five children. He also leaves to mourn his passing his grandparents, Frank and Pearlie Turner of Boston. His uncles and aunts from various parts of the country, Reginald C. Harrison, Alfred and Cynthia Harrison, Anthony Turner, Toi L. (Harrison) and Bobby Byrd, Debbie (Turner) Meredith, Cynthia (Harrison) and Joseph Madonna, Cathryn (Harrison) and Charles Porter, Dorzell Porter, Consuela Harrison, Xavier Harrison, Ty'ara Haywood, Lamari Davis, and Malik Harrison. Darnell also leaves a multitude of friends who loved him and will sorely miss him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Alfred and Betty Harrison and his uncle Darryl Harrison.
Darnell's humanly light may have abruptly ended in the earth but the light of his heart-his desire to make a difference in the lives of young people will burn continually, as those who remember him diligently strive to make an affirmative difference in his name.

Calling hours in the House of Prayer #5 Church, 948 Main St., Brockton on Friday evening, January 15th 7:00-9:00PM. Funeral service in the church on Saturday at 9:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
