Obituary

Darren E. Young, 56, of Brockton, MA passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2023. Darren is survived by his wife of thirty years, Rachel S. Young, his mother Paulette Young, a brother Dennis Young, sisters Cheryl Kennedy and Robin Katcharian, brother-in-law Leon Katcharian, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Harry E. Young, a sister Doreen Young, and brother-in-law Jonathan Kennedy.

Darren was born and raised in Brockton, graduated from Brockton High School and attended Technical Schools. He served six years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, 181st Engineer Battalion. Darren was an employee of Bridgewater State University for over twenty-five years.

He had a passion for music, listening to his collection of vintage records and jamming on the harmonica. He loved golfing, playing frisbee and other outdoor activities, like kayaking and fishing. Mostly, he loved hosting gatherings for family and friends.

He enjoyed the company of three loyal pet companions over the years. Darren and Rachel loved to travel and explore new destinations. He recently had the opportunity to visit Austin City Limits studio.

A Celebration of Darren’s Life will be held at Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday March 30, 2023 from 3-6pm.
