Domingos Alves Fontes, 84, of Brockton, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 under the care of his family and hospice after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Rita (Teixeira) Fontes. Born October 20, 1933 in Fogo, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Manuel Alves Fontes and Balbina (Vicente) Alves Fontes. Domingos was raised and educated in Cape Verde until the age of 15. He came to Scituate, Massachusetts in 1947 and later moved to Brockton in 1982. Domingos was a United States Army Veteran. He worked as a security guard for the JFK Library in Boston for many years. Domingos helped bring all of his family from Cape Verde to the United States. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, boxing and his favorites coffee and a cigarette. Domingos was a good man who loved his family. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Teixeira) Fontes; his children, Carla H. Fontes, Maria Fontes, Daniel Fontes, and Miguel Fontes; his grandchildren, Naja Monteiro, Nya Jackson, Ania Jackson, Ezekiel Jackson, Jayden Fontes Antunes and Jayleani Fontes Antunes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was the father of the late Ricardo Fontes and brother of the late Guilherme Alves Fontes, Maria Alves Fontes, Jose Alves Fontes, Sacorrim and Jaimo DaVeiga. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, September 22nd at 8:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 9:00AM.
