Online Obituaries Dominic Muzzy Bertocci, 85, of Brockton, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. In 1947 Muzzy graduated from Brockton High School where he excelled at both baseball and football and was named the Boston Globe All-Scholastic player of the year in his senior year. Immediately after graduation he signed with the Cincinnati Reds. In 1949 he signed on with the Brooklyn Dodgers Organization where he trained with the famous Jackie Robinson and became great lifelong friends with his roommate, former Red Sox Coach, Don Zimmer. While playing for the Dodgers, 54, 145 lbs. Muzzy became better known as the Pest or the Bundle of Hustle who could throw a strike from center field to home plate. In the early 1950s he left baseball to serve in the Korean War where he spent most of his time in Germany and Italy. In 1953 he returned and signed on for a short time with the New York Yankees Organization. In 2000 Muzzy was inducted into the Brockton High School Sports Hall of Fame for both baseball and football. Muzzy worked for many years in the construction field building houses for the Campanelli Properties. After many years of residing in Ipswich he has spent the last several years in West Bridgewater. In his free time he liked to play cards, watch baseball and enjoy time with his family. He was an honorary member of the Bertocci Club in Brockton. He is survived by his children, Dale Bertocci of Ipswich, Darryl Bertocci, and Darlene Bertocci of Kansas City; his sister Ellie Costa of Brockton and his several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stephen, Charles Tut, Albert, Anna and Nicholas Bertocci, Doris Pecci, and Maryann Loud. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Monday, November 24th at 10:00AM followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
