Online Obituaries Donald E. Sweeney, 86, formerly of Brockton, passed away quietly in Greenwich, Connecticut on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife Sabina (D'Alba) Sweeney in February 2013. He is survived by a son, Eugene Sweeney and son-in- law, Alessandro Maffei; a daughter, Donna Wiedemann and son-in-law, George Wiedemann; his grandson, Spencer Wiedemann; his sister-in -law, Gisela Sweeney; his nieces, Julie Sweeney Springwater, Jane Sweeney Rader and Deborah Sweeney; great nephews, Benjamin Rader and Jeffrey Springwater. Don was born in Brockton and lived his entire life in the city until his move to Greenwich in 2011. He was a proud member of the United States Navy serving on several battleships at the end of WWII. He worked in electrical contract sales for several companies over his 55 year career including Westinghouse and Beacon Electric. He was a graduate of Bentley College. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday, November 23rd at 8:00AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM.
