IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Marie (Samia)
Poirier
February 18, 1955 – December 8, 2025
Donna Marie (Samia) Poirier, 70 years old, of Easton and formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025, with her family by her side. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, MA, she was the beloved daughter of the late John "Tofie" and Theresa (Khoury) Samia. Donna was also the cherished wife of the late Alan J. Poirier.
From a very young age, Donna developed a devoted love of family, a strong work ethic and a great capacity for caring for others. For many years, she worked with her parents and siblings for the family business, Karen's Donut Shop, in Bridgewater Center. After graduating from Brockton High School and Massasoit Community College, Donna entered the workforce determined to expand upon her already considerable skills set. She demonstrated an increasing aptitude for IT for many years at Merkett Enterprises and Cumberland Farms, but it was her position at JP Morgan Chase in which Donna truly thrived. She relished the range of responsibilities and accounts that were assigned to her, and because she worked with accuracy and excellence, Donna earned the title of Assistant Vice President.
Donna had a great passion for arts and crafts, cooking, traveling, reading, and working in the garden. She cherished her family, friends and neighbors whose love and devotion was so important to her; she expressed heartfelt gratitude to her team of medical providers for their excellent care of her throughout the years. Her Maronite faith, with its beautiful history and beliefs, provided the stepping stones upon which Donna built her life. She was a faithful life-long communicant of Saint Theresa Maronite Church, praying the Rosary every day to express her deep, abiding faith.
Saint Francis of Assisi once said, ""The deeds you do may be the only sermon some persons will hear today." Donna's deeds were those born in kindness. Donna was known for her "behind-the-scenes" genuine acts of generosity and charity, especially for those less fortunate; her validation and affirmation of those who needed to hear words of encouragement, and her caring and giving ways exemplified her thoughtful heart. Always wanting to be sure that her family and friends, her neighbors and colleagues, had what they needed, Donna purposefully stood close by, always willing to lend a helping hand, to be of service, to support, to be present.
Throughout her life, Donna was a dutiful daughter, a loving wife, a beloved sister, a wonderful cousin and a generous friend. She loved the Christmas Season, with all of its beauty and majesty. Donna especially relished being a doting Auntie. At family gatherings for Christmas, she would dress up as "Donna the Reindeer" and animatedly read "The Night Before Christmas" for two generations of nieces and nephews in front of a brightly decorated tree. This is a joyous memory that everyone will cherish.
Donna is survived by her loving siblings, David P. Samia and his wife Nancy of Halifax, MA, Paula F. Samia of Brockton, MA, and Karen E. Chater and her husband Souhail of Adma, Lebanon; she was also the sister of the late John E. Samia, Jr., who is survived by his wife, Louise, of Brockton, MA. Donna leaves her much adored nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Donna was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, December 12th, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Saint Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main Street, Brockton, MA
A Service of the Divine Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. will immediately follow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Donna's family respectfully requests that donations be made to Saint Theresa Maronite Church in her memory.
