Doris Vivian Johnson was born on March 9, 1930 to the late Rebert E. Johnson, Jr. and Wallis Phillips Johnson in Galveston, Texas. She died peacefully at Baypointe Nursing Home on April 19, 2021.
Doris graduated from Central High School of Galveston in 1948. She followed her brothers to Brockton to pursue a career in the booming shoe industry and worked for C.V. Rubin for approximately 40 years. She was a faithful member of Lincoln Congregational Church for many years and attended Lighthouse of Faith in Christ Jesus church until her health started to decline.
She dedicated most of her life helping to raise and support her sister Margaret's five children. Doris was a big fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics and loved watching games with "the boys". She also loved to bowl and play bingo. She was smart, witty, kind, charming, funny, tough and faithful and was always willing to help anyone that was in need.
Doris was predeceased by her siblings Margaret Johnson Baker, Robert W. Johnson, Rebert E. Johnson, III and Richard Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Carla Johnson Biggers of Galveston, TX; special nephews, Raymond Baker, Jr., Joseph Baker, Richard Baker and Mark Baker; special niece, Vivian Baker Blake (Dwayne); a sister-in-law, Ann Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Baypointe Nursing Home for their care and support during Doris' time at the facility.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 11:00AM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) Brockton. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:00am
