Dorothy J. Damon

Dorothy “Dottie” Joan (Callaghan) Damon, age 81, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday May 15, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Frederick A. Damon, Jr.; daughters Jennifer Reardon, Marissa Markonish, Jill Damon-Minow, and Kerrin Lyons; goddaughter Alyssa Eisnor- Sullivan; brother John Callaghan; and her eight grandchildren (Katelyn, Taryn, Alex, Meghan, Luke, Samuel, Paige, and Jack) and two great-nieces (Rowan and Emme).

She was born on June 24, 1944, in New Bedford, MA to the late Thomas Andrew and Mary Dorothy (Morrill) Callaghan. She was preceded in death by her siblings Maureen DeCarlo, Margaret Eisnor, Thomas Callaghan, and James Callaghan.

Dottie was known for her style and fashion sense, her incredibly strong will, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. She would talk to anyone and made friends everywhere she went. As “Granny”, she never failed to spoil her beloved grandchildren with prizes and her tremendous pride in them. Dottie’s faith and fortitude let her weather life’s many challenges with admirable stoicism. She was absolutely the best mom anyone could ask for, and to say that she will be missed gravely underestimates our loss.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5-7 pm, at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte. 123) Brockton. The funeral mass will be on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11 am in St. Michael’s Church, 87 North Main Street, Avon (all relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at church)
