DOUGLAS GORDON MASSEY

Passed away after a brief illness on Friday June 27, 2025 in Brockton MA.

Born in Needham MA. on October 11, 1956 to Frances M. Massey and Gordon H. Massey.

He graduated from Needham High School Class of 1975 and worked for Paragon Park, Boston Whaler, Premco Inc and more recently with NuCar, Cape Cod Auto Transportation and The Kraft Group (New England Patriots) He was a goaltender for area ice hockey team when he was younger.

He was very active in the Freemasons and excellent in all the rituals. A member of Paul Revere Masonic Lodge A. F. & A. M. since 1993 and Past Master 2001-2002, 2007. Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 17th Masonic District 2021-2022, Holder of the Joseph Warren Distinguished Service Medal 2012, affiliated member of St George Lodge, Baalis Sanford Lodge and John Cutler Lodge (now Wampatuck Lodge). A member of the Board of Directors of the Brockton Masonic Building Association. A member of Satucket Pilgrim Royal Arch Chapter since 1996, Past High Priest 2003, 2012-2014. A member of Massachusetts Convention of High Priests 1999. A member of Brockton Abington Council of Royal and Select Master Masons since 1996, Past Illustrious Master 2010-2011, 2017-2019, member of Massachusetts Council of Thrice Illustrious Masters 2013, Past Grand Sentinel of the Grand Council of Royal & Select Master Masons of Mass 2012-2013, Holder of the Blake Bailey Meritorious Service Medal 2014. A member of Bay State Commandery #38 Knights Templar since 1997, Past Commander 2023-2025. A member of Mayflower York Rite College #105 since 2017. A member of Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Southeastern Massachusettssince 2003 . A member of Worshipful Master Association of South Eastern MA. A member of the Past District Deputy Grand Masters Association. A member of William Dawes Council #579 Allied Masonic Degrees. Brother Doug volunteered for many years at the Paul Revere Lodge American Red Cross Blood Drives as a cook and at the Brockton VA Hospital, Sunday Veterans Escort Services. A man and Brother of Great Character, who truly will be missed!

He is survived by his sister Dianne Pike of Framingham MA. and Brother Alan B. Massey of Westfield MA. He was preceded by his mother (Frances) and father (Gordon) and brother William T. Massey II

After cremation a wake will be held at The Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St (rt123) Brockton on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. With burial in the family plot Needham Cemetery,128 Nehoiden St, Needham MA. on July 22, 2025 at 11:00 . A Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's memory to Paul Revere Lodge A.F. & A. M. Please note in the memo section.
