Edith (Alves) Barbosa Edith (Alves) Barbosa , 58, of Brockton died unexpectedly Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was the wife of Vladmiro C. Barbosa. Born January 10, 1950 in Monte Largo, Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of Henrique Alves and the late Vitalina (Mendes) Alves. Edith worked in the shipping department at Chadwick's of Boston. She was also a communicant of St. Edith Stein Parish. She is survived by her children, Jose H. Barbosa, Jose P. Barbosa, Vanda (Barbosa) Miranda, Joao H. Barbosa, Alda M. Barbosa, Neila E. Barbosa, Agnelo H. Barbosa all of Brockton; her stepchildren, Maria (Barbosa) Pina of Brockton and Valdir Barbosa of Cape Verde; her siblings, Elvira Alves, Maria F. Monteiro, Joao (Johnny) Alves, Joao (John) Alves, Antonio Alves, Ildo Alves, Agnelo Alves and Miguel Alves. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt 123) Brockton on Saturday, August 2nd at 8:00AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, at 9:00AM.
