Edith J. (Woods) Smith Edith J. (Woods) Smith , 69, of Brockton and formerly of Childersburg, AL., departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton. She was the wife of the late Randy G. Smith. Born August 11, 1941 in Childersburg, AL she was a daughter of the late Mullis and Addie (Borden) Woods. She was a former employee of the MBTA and also the Self Help Inc. fuel assistance program. She was a woman, who loved the Lord, and had a heart of gold. Edith was known to her family members as "Big Mama". She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl D. Smith, Janice L. Webster and her husband Leroy, and Geralyn Smith-Hibbert and her husband Vinnie all of Brockton; her grandchildren, Vinetta M. Smith and her fiance Joshua, Rannielle C. McCall, Korel L. Dunn, Jasmine R. McCall, Michael Mccalaster, Travis D. Hammonds, Zahria BJ McCall, Kehmari L. Smith all of Brockton; her great-granddaughter Akayzia D. Gady of Brockton; her five sisters, three brothers and a host of family and friends. Funeral Information A funeral service will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Monday at 12:00pm. Calling hours will be from 11am-12pm. Interment will be at a later date in Lilly Rhoden Cemetery, Childersburg AL.
