Obituary

Edward J. Connolly, age 78 of Brockton died August 21, 2016 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Marylou (Babiarz) Connolly. Edward was born and raised in Savin Hill a son of the late Timothy J. and Kathleen (Booth) Connolly. He had been a resident of Brockton since 1973.

Edward was a graduate of Boston Technical High School, Boston State College and received Master Degrees in Education and English from Bridgewater State College. Following high school graduation, Edward served in the US Navy submarine service.
He retired from the Boston Public School system after teaching Industrial Arts for many years at the Curley School in Jamaica Plain and the Timilty School in Roxbury. He was a member of the Boston Teachers’ Union and loved woodworking, reading great literature and golf.

He will be remembered as a gregarious man who was always ready with a joke and enjoyed seeing other people learn and be happy.
Edward is survived by his children John Connolly and Julie Connolly, both of W. Roxbury; his sisters Rita Ruggere of N. Brookfield and Kathy Connolly of Hanover. He was also the brother of the late Patrick “Joe”, Timothy, Thomas and Mary Connolly. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte. 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 10am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes church at 11am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
