Online Obituaries Edward (Ted) D. Doherty passed away peacefully at home in Norwell, MA surrounded by his wife and 5 children on November 6th at the age of 77. Ted was the son of the late Edward C. and Elizabeth A. Doherty of Dedham, MA and brother of the late Judy (Doherty) Marschke, Thomas Doherty and Maribeth Doherty. Ted graduated from Saint Sebastians High School and Boston College and was a resident of Norwell for 45 years. After graduating college, Ted began building custom homes on the South Shore and Cape Cod. Later, he took over his fathers small family business, DB&S Lumber and Home Improvement, and expanded it into the south shore and southeastern Massachusetts. Ted had a very strong devotion to his employees and customers and was very proud of the family business that continues to service the community today. Ted was an avid sailor, skier and wood worker, but most of all, Ted enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends on the Cape and at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. Ted is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helene (Lynn) Doherty; his daughter Danielle and husband Paul Lombardi; his daughter Jeanne and her husband Patrick MacDonald; his son David Doherty and wife Jessica; his son Brian Doherty and wife Heather; his daughter Minnie Doherty; and his 12 loving grandchildren. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9th from 4-8pm at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, (Rt. 53) Hanover. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church at 392 Hanover Street (Route 139), Hanover on Friday, November 10th at 10am.
