Obituary

Edward F. Powers 79 years, of Brockton died Sunday August 31, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. He was the husband for 52 years of Phyllis F. (Adelman) Powers he was born and raised in Cambridge and had been a resident of Brockton since 1970. During the Korean Conflict he served in the US Army.
Mr. Powers retired from Payne Engineering in Canton and previously had worked for many years at Allied Container in Dedham.
Though he enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and Boston sport teams, Mr. Powers was most proud of his 26 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
In addition to his wife he is survived by nine children Edward and his wife Jan of PA; Jeanne O’Brien and her husband Richard of WV; Barbara LeClerc and her husband Charles of Raynham; Michael and his wife Christine of E. Bridgewater; Donna Powers of Taunton; Kelly Miller and her husband Russell of FL; Richard and his wife Kristin of S. Easton; Leanne Benoit and her husband Michael and Theresa Daley and her husband Paul, Jr. both of Brockton. He was the brother of Doris O’Connor of Cambridge; Ernest of SC and Charles of NH and the late Ruth Sennott, Herbert and Donald Powers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 8 am. Funeral Mass St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edward Church at 9 am. Cremation will follow. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm.
