Edward Stern, Sr., 85, of Brockton passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family and niece Tracy (Stern) Hutchinson on Friday, April 30, 2021. He was the loving husband of Marie (Martineau) Stern sharing 64 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Dawn DiIorio and her husband Cosimo, two grandsons Paul and Anthony DiIorio, to whom he was "Beepa" and his beloved best friend Ollie. He was predeceased by his son Edward Stern, Jr. He was the son of Bruno and Lena (Deluca) Stern, brother of Joseph Stern and his wife Dora of Nevada and uncle to many nieces and nephews. His predeceased siblings include Dorothy Oldson, Richard Stern, Mary Angelo, Robert Stern and Kathleen Snelgrove. He was in the construction field for many years and retired from Brewster Ambulance. Edward was an active leader in the Brockton crime watch program, going around the city and getting new groups started. He received many awards and recognition for his work and dedication. He was an avid sports fan, played semi-pro football and coached his sons pony league baseball team. He also enjoyed attending his grandsons sporting events and traveling to hockey tournaments. Edward enjoyed gardening, music and telling a good joke. The memories of you will never fade for the stories will be endless.
