Obituary

Edwin P. “Ed” Caldwell, age 88 of Brockton, died Sunday October 11, 2015 at Signature Healthcare/ Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Arlene M. (Brawders) Caldwell. He was the father of David Caldwell of South Carolina and the late Brian Caldwell and brother of Mildred Siebel, Rita Caldwell Mahoney, Dorothy Gibbs, Mary Mahon and Helen Costa.
He was born, raised and educated in Boston, son of the late John and Freda (Polhaus) Caldwell. As a younger man he enjoyed fishing, camping with his wife and family, summer travel and vacations. He also enjoyed the challenge of fixing mechanical problems. In 1990 Ed retired from the Pneumatic Scale Company in Quincy after 35 years as a foreman/machinist. He had previously worked at the United Automotive Company in Boston. Ed was civic minded, strong willed, self-reliant, disciplined, honest and a hard worker. He loved his wife, cars, repairing automobiles and his Christian faith.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Saturday 9:30 to 10:30am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Donations in Ed’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
