Efharis "Effie" Paraskis
, 93, of Brockton, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Stanley Tippet Hospice House in Needham.
Born July 25, 1917 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Paraskis and Thalia (Othon) Paraskis. A lifelong resident of Brockton, she graduated from Brockton High School in 1936, Williams Business School and Boston School of Dental Nursing.
Effie was a Clerk in the Juvenile Probation Department of the Brockton District Court for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton where she was in the choir and taught Sunday School.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Fuller Art Museum, Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Braemoor Nursing Home in Brockton.
She is survived by her nephew, Charles Paraskis, Jr. and his wife Athena of Holbrook; her niece, Thalia Paraskis; her cousin, Leander Othon and his wife Doreen; her godson, Chris Tsokanis. She was the sister of the late Dr. Charles Paraskis, D.M.D.
Effie's family would like to thank all of Effie's friends at Madrid Square and those that took care of her at the VNA Care Network Hospice.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16th at 9:30AM in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. At Effie's request, calling hours are omitted.
