Elbridge G. Elby Hooker, 88, of Easton, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Meehan) Hooker.
Born February 20, 1926 in Holbrook, he was the son of the late Alonzo Hooker and Lucy (Chapman) Hooker. Raised in Holbrook, he graduated from Holbrook High School and took additional courses at Northeastern University.
Elby worked as an Engineer for WBET for 29 years and then Channel 7 for 21 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Holbrook Cooperative Bank for over 20 years and was a founding member and former President of the Holbrook Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, photography and traveling.
He is survived by his children, James M. Studley and his wife Brenda of Easton, Mark E. Hooker and his wife Elizabeth of Milton and Erin K. Hooker-Thomas and her husband Andrew of Easton; his grandchildren, Michael Studley, Aidan Thomas, Brendan Thomas, Devin Thomas, Emerson Hooker, Patrick Thomas and Morgan Thomas; his siblings, Ruth Hooker of Holbrook and Leonard Hooker of NH; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, December 18th from 10:00-11:00AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
