Eleanor C. (Palmer) Black, 96, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the West Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brockton. She was the beloved wife of the late William S. Black.
Born May 12, 1917 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Edmund Palmer and Margaret (Skinner) Palmer. A lifelong Brockton resident she graduated from Brockton High School in 1935.
Eleanor was the owner and operator of Eleanor's on Beacon Street in Boston, Randolph and Brockton during the 1940's and 1950's. She then retired from the City of Brockton School System.
Eleanor was known to be a devote Boston Red Sox Fan.
She enjoyed gourmet baking for her family and friends, reading, and most of all spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor's family would like to thank everyone at West Acres for the love and care provided to Eleanor.
She is survived by her children, William S. Black, Jr. and his wife Beth of East Taunton, Rita M. Cashin of Bridgewater and Ellie C. Casieri and her husband Jim of Brockton; her grandchildren, Kelly A. Cashin of Bridgewater, Sean B. Cashin of Brockton, Christopher J. Casieri of Brockton, William C. Black of East Taunton and Lisa C. Black of East Taunton; her great-grandchildren, Alyvia G. Buccheri, Kallie E. Buccheri and Nolan C. Buccheri all of Bridgewater and Declan J. Cashin of Brockton; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita Nelson.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Tuesday, July 2nd at 9:30AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00-8:00PM.
