Obituary

Ward, Eleanor (Elly), formerly of Braintree and a longtime resident of Roslindale, passed away peacefully in Brockton at the age of 87 on January 25.

Daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor Ward, she is survived by her sister, Kathleen MacQueen and her husband, James, of Raynham; her longtime companion, Leo McCready, of Braintree; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Ward.

Born in Boston on August 11, 1938, Elly was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston and the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. Following her graduation, Elly worked as a nurse at hospitals in Boston, and later served her country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. In her spare time, she found simple pleasures in knitting and gardening and was a very talented fine artist.

She also had a sharp mind and was an avid Jeopardy! fan, rarely missing an answer – a favorite pastime she shared with her mother.

A special thank you to all her caretakers and nurses at St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton, who showed her great care and compassion during her time there.

Services for Elly will be private.
