Ryder, of Brockton, June 25, 2002, Elizabeth “Betty" C. Ryder, 90 years. Beloved mother of Ruth Anne Unick of No. Easton, Mary Ellen Stoddard and her husband William of Brockton, David Ryder and his wife Meredith of Satellite Beach, FL and Rose Marie Minon and her husband Richard of Taunton.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 9 am. Visiting Hours Thursday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Betty’s memory may be made to St. Colman Church, 42 Wendell Ave.,Brockton, MA 02302.
Betty died unexpectedly Tuesday at the Brockton Hospital.Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ellen (Mullen) Ryder and she remained a lifelong resident of Brockton.
For over 25 years she was a sales clerk at Jack Warren’s Mens Store in Brockton. She was a waitress in the Brockton area at Jay’s, The Roma Café and the Brockton Fair.
She was active in Brockton civic organizations including BAMSI where she retired as an emeritus member. She was formerly on the board of directors for AARP and HUD. She was a member of the Massasoit Senior Chorus and the Senior Bowling League at Maple Alleys.Betty enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, sewing and crafts.
She was an active communicant of St. Colman Church where she was a member of its choir and Ladies Sodality.
She is survived by her 3 daughters and one son, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephewsShe was the sister of the late Earl, Charles and Henry Ryder
