Elizabeth A. (DeCosta) Sloan
, 54, of Brockton, died suddenly and peacefully in her home at Caffrey Towers in Brockton on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
Born January 25, 1956 in Chelsea, she was the beloved daughter of the late James A. DeCosta and Elizabeth A. (Card) DeCosta and granddaughter of the late Elizabeth A. (Willis) Card.
Elizabeth was known by her family and friends as "Betty or Lisa". She attended St. Patrick's School in Brockton and continued taking courses at Massasoit Community College. She enjoyed all aspects of nature, especially the ocean. She loved the company of and caring for her cat, Katie. She also enjoyed knitting, listening and singing music, fishing, cooking, decorating her apartment at Caffrey Towers, shopping, drawing, writing, and word search puzzles. She loved spending time with her daughter Kristen and sister Diane.
Her Catholic faith was very important in her life. She prayed often and when she was able, she enjoyed going to Mass, especially to LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro.
Although she had many illnesses and tribulations in her life, she had a generous heart and a giving spirit even if it meant she went without. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her and were blessed by her prescence.
She was the loving mother of Kristen M. Sloan of Randolph, sister of James A. DeCosta and wife Wendy of Pawtucket RI, best friend and sister of Diane M. DeCosta of Brockton, Ma, Aunt of Matthew J. DeCosta of Pawtucket, RI and Michael W. DeCosta of Brooklyn, NY. Close cousin of Cheryl (DeCosta) Leavitt of Pocassett, Ma and survived by many cousins.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Wednesday, June 2nd at 9:00AM thence to Sisters of Jesus Crucified Chapel at the Motherhouse of Our Lady of Sorrows Convent, 261 Thatcher St., Brockton, where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Tuesday 4:00-8:00PM.
