IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth
St. George
September 7, 1932 – October 23, 2022
Elizabeth Ann St. George, 90, of Lakeville passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her home under the care of her family and hospice. She was the wife of the late Kevin St. George.
Born in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. Prior and Elizabeth Prior, nee Mullaney. Elizabeth was raised in Washington DC where she graduated from Georgetown Visitation with an associate degree in 1953. She returned to Massachusetts in 1955, working as a dental hygienist in Newtonville.
Elizabeth and her late husband, Kevin, built a cottage in Lakeville in 1960 and moved there permanently in 1969. Elizabeth was an active member of the Lakeville community, serving on numerous committees and initiatives over the years, including the Lakeville Library Fundraising Committee, Council on Aging, Open Space Committee, 911 Commission, Lakeville 150th Anniversary Committee, and the Capital Campaign Committee. In 2007 she was named Southcoast's Woman of the Year in recognition of her many years of community service. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and an active member of the St. John Neuman Parish for many years as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteer, and visitor to the sick and homebound.
Elizabeth enjoyed writing. Her recurring column, "Prevailing Winds", ran in two local weekly newspapers for several years. She was also a substitute-teacher, fierce advocate for special needs education, Special Olympics supporter, homemaker, and loving mother. She enjoyed entertaining, spending time with family and friends, and travels and adventures with her life's love, Kevin. Her heartfelt kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she had a warmth and grace that was palpable. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caregiver, and a sterling friend. She will be missed beyond measure and will live in our hearts forever.
Elizabeth is survived by her son Christopher; and daughter Michelle and her husband Allan Coyle.
