Online Obituaries Emil C. Masi, formerly of West Springfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at his home in Ogunquit, Maine surrounded by his family. Born April 1, 1942 in Springfield, he was the son of the late Edward P. Masi and Joya C. (Puricelli) Masi. Emil lived most of his life in West Springfield and graduated from West Springfield High School in 1960 and later graduated from American International College and Western New England University. He then went on to teach in the Springfield Public School system for over 33 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Ogunquit, Maine. Emil loved people and could chat with everyone he met. All this love came full circle this past year by faithful friends and former students. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. Emil leaves His Bride of 53 years, Eleanor (Haggerty) Masi; his five children, Scott Masi and Moira Maloney of Portsmouth, NH, Mark and Sheila Masi of West Springfield, MA, William Masi and Angie Marks of Lone Tree, CO, Jennifer and Michael Finn of West Springfield, MA and Meghan and Kevin Bowersox of Greenland, NH; Proud Nonno to eight grandchildren that lite up his life, Allison and Patrick Masi, Charles, Peter and Molly Finn and Maeve, Nora and Grace Bowersox; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Following cremation, Memorial Visitation will be held in the Toomey-OBrien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA on Sunday, Sept. 10th from 2:00-5:00PM. A Memorial mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield on Monday at 11:00AM. Interment will be private. There is also a Memorial Mass scheduled for Saturday, September 16th in St. Mary's Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, Maine at 11:00AM.
