Eric William Hassey, 36, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  He was the husband of Patrick S. Donohue.

Born on January 9, 1987 in Norwood, he was the son of William Hassey and Rebecca (Baker) Hassey.

Raised in Dedham, he was an avid nature lover and graduated from Dedham High School with honors. Eric was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the marching band, which were district champions several years in a row. Eric participated in Dedham High School's Science Olympiad and played the bassoon for the New England Conservatory Youth Symphony.

Having received an AP Scholar award, Eric attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst on a full scholarship from the Massachusetts John and Abigail Adams program. Eric studied mechanical engineering and received an award from the engineering department for his idea and completion of an automated pill dispenser.

Eric worked at RFC Corporation in Millis where he was a radio frequency technician and engineer.

He is survived by his husband Patrick S. Donohue; his parents William and Rebecca Hassey of Brockton; his brother Ryan Hassey and his wife Kelli of Abington; his grandfather Peter Baker of Attleboro; his father and mother-in-law Stephen and Rowena Donohue of Brockton; and his sister-in-law Stephanie Harrington of Middleboro. He was the grandson of the late Sheila Baker and Gloria Hassey.

Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, September 15th from 8:00AM-10:30AM followed by a funeral service in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
