Sylvester, of Newport, RI, formerly of Brockton, July 18, 2005, Erland C. (DeCorsa) Sylvester, 86 years. Wife of the late Anthony Sylvester. Mother of the late Eugene Sylvester. Mother-in-law of Joanne Sylvester of Wakefield. Grandmother of Jon-David and Julie Sylvester both of Wakefield. Sister of Beatrice DeCorsa and Orlando DeCorsa both of Brockton.

Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday at 10am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30am. Visiting Hours Thursday 5-8pm. Donations in Erland’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4680.

Obituary Information

Erland C. (DeCorsa) Sylvester died Monday morning at the Heatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport, RI. She had been a resident of Newport for almost 25 years and had previously lived in Geneva, NY for many years. She was born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Leonardo and Maria (Sanicaudro) DeCorsa. Erland retired as the Assistant Director for the Geneva Youth Bureau. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, and was an avid sports fan.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Joanne Sylvester of Wakefield, two grandchildren Jon-David and Julie Sylvester both of Wakefield, one sister Beatrice DeCorsa and one brother Orlando DeCorsa both of Brockton. She was the wife of the late Anthony Sylvester and mother of the late Eugene Sylvester.
