Ernestine Tina (Pender) Cotten, 76, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Manor in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Claude Burnell Cotton.
Born May 29, 1937 in Scotland, North Carolina; she was the daughter of the late Junuis Lancaster and Lois (Pender) Lancaster.
Mr. & Mrs. James and Lottie Williams (uncle and aunt) reared Ernestine (nickname Teen) from age one year until she was seventeen. She attended Brawley High School in Scotland Neck, NC. Later, she went to New York to live with her mother.
Tina was a retired teacher working at Self-Help Head Start for several years.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and socializing with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Lenell Silva of Brockton, Gwendolyn Cotten of SC and Lorenzo Cotten of Brockton; her grandchildren, Michael, Claude, LC, Nekita, Lester, Jr., Damien, Natarsha, Desiree, Akia, Nickol, Devyn, Ashley, Lorenzo, Julius and Makalia; her son-in-laws, Ronald Silva and James Roberson; she is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Lester and Gerston Cotten and sister of the late Charles Pender.

Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29th from 10:00AM-11:30AM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
