Ethel G. (Scott) Matta
, 88, formerly of Brockton, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean, New York after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late James Matta.
Born January 10, 1920 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. Scott and Pheobie (Brewster) Scott.
Raised in Brockton she attended Brockton Schools. She was a homemaker for many years and worked part time as a Receptionist at the Shirley Matta Dance Academy in Brockton. Ethel enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and reading. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church in Brockton.
She is survived by her children, James Matta and his wife Carolyn of Nakomis, Florida, John W. Matta and his wife Georgia of Valrico, Florida, and Judith Creeden and her husband Joseph of Olean, New York; Sister of John B. Scott, Charles W. Scott, Lillian I. Swederskas, Kenneth E. Scott, Paul J. Scott, Phyliss Scott, Walter Scott, and Raymond Scott; she is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert F. Scott, Donald F. Scott, Stanley H. Scott, Ralph Scott, Edna Scott and Hazel Blatchford.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, November 6th at 9:000AM thence to St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main St., Brockton where the Service of the Devine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00AM by the Rev. Tony Akoury. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 5:00-8:00PM with a Service of Incense at 6:00PM
