Eugene R. Hardy, Sr., 84, of West Bridgewater, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Morash) Hardy. Born on February 26, 1936 in Malden, Eugene was the son of the late William Hardy and Marion (Sullivan) Hardy. After graduating from Randolph High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Eugene was a self-employed contractor and Owner of Hardy construction was a member of the Randolph AMVETS , Elks Lodge and Co founder of the Cochesett Veterans Memorial Garden located in West Bridgewater. Every son would have something that he had built from wood. From something as small as wooden Shamrock painted green,beautiful bars where lots of cheer, stories and laughs would be had and houses built they now live in. Famous for always saying " I may be short but I walk tall . His stories and great sense of humor will be missed and always remembered. In addition to his wife Barbara, Eugene is survived by his children, Gene Hardy, Jr. and his wife Elin, Brian Hardy, Shawn P. Hardy, Dean W. Hardy, Sr. and his wife Heidi and Glen K. Hardy and his wife Martinique; his grandchildren, Jeanine Hardy-Hackett, Brittney Hardy, Corey Hardy, Tyler Hardy, Alexis Hardy, Colby Hardy, Jillian Hardy and Dean Hardy, Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Brody and Gavin; and life long friend who he shared many laughs with Kevin Kairns. Eugene was also the brother of the late William Hardy. Following cremation, a Memorial Gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt28) West Bridgewater on Friday, March 6th from 4:00PM-8:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00PM in St. Ann Church, 103 North Main St., West Bridgewater. Interment will be at a later date in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
