"Gene" was a lifetime Brockton resident who worked for the Brockton School System for 43 plus years. He graduated from Brockton High School, Class of '58, where he starred in football and basketball. He attended the University of Idaho on a full football scholarship graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Eugene also devoted his time to the Next Level Football Program every Saturday morning. He would chaperone the students on trips to college for tours. Eugen consistently provided lectures about being a good person and athlete, along with sharing stories of the obstacles that he faced as a black man in the 1950's and 1960's. He was a very active member of the Brockton YMCA, and served on Brockton Redevelopment Authority, the License Commission, and the Signature Healthcare Board of Directors.
