Eugene F. Sylvester Eugene F. Sylvester , Sr., 90, of Brockton, passed away after a period of failing health at the Braemoor Health Center in Brockton. He was the husband of the late Blanche T. (Fahey) Sylvester. Born August 11, 1924 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Jiovani A. Sylvester and Rose (Colombo) Sylvester. A lifelong Brockton resident, he graduated from Brockton High School in 1943 where he was all-scholastic and was inducted into the schools hall of fame in 1975. He served in the 103rd Infantry Division of the United States Army on D-Day during the Normandy Invasion. Gene was the Chief of Operations for Horizon Beverage Inc. of Avon and Norton for over 30 years. Gene was talented in all sports but especially in baseball where he was recruited by the Chicago Cubs as a pitcher in 1943. He was a Founding Memberof the Hanson AA and a lifelong member of the Bertocci Club and member of the Club National. He was a past member of Thorny Lea Golf Club and D.W. Field Golf Course in Brockton. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his children, Rosanne Sylvester of Raynham, Eugene F. Sylvester , Jr. and his wife Stella of Taunton and Edward J. Sylvester and his wife Patti of Brockton; his grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Nicholas, Tony, Matthew, Brandon and Gabrielle; his great grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Mikayla, Jaxson and Abby; his brother, John Sylvester and his wife Carole; his sister-in-law, Rose Dolly Sylvester; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony Dunna Sylvester and Louis and his wife Lila Sylvester. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, November 7th at 9:30AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00-7:00PM.
