Eunice Elizabeth (Boardman) Simmons, of West Bridgewater, MA passed away peacefully on her 91st birthday, Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Born on April 18, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Doherty) Boardman of Fall River, MA. Eunice pursued a nursing career and eventually worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital retiring at the age of 82 having earned many awards for her dedicated service to Veterans.

Eunice is predeceased by her husband William A. Simmons and her son Thomas E. Simmons. She is survived by her loving family, William J Simmons, Brian L. Simmons, his wife Jodi, Eileen D. Kincaid and her husband James, Wayne E. Simmons and his wife Karen, Annie E. Simmons and her partner Mark Carney, Eunice E. Simmons and her partner Tony Vasquez. She leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchildren and 4 great grand children and several nieces and nephews touched by her love, humor and grace. Her greatest joy and achievement was her family.

The family is grateful to the staff at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, MA for their compassion care over the last few years, and their exceptional care and devotion during the Covid pandemic.

Eunice also enjoyed gardening, travel especially with best friends Ann and Fred Meier and their daughter Eunice, camping and sitting by the fire with a glass of wine. She was passionate about summers at the pool and sleepovers that would last for the entire season with the grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 25th in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S.Main St., (Rt.28) West Bridgewater from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date in the Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Eunice's name to Old Colony Hospice 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
