Obituary

Evelyn M. “Rustie” (Nelson) Sergi, age 90, of Brockton, died peacefully, September 9, 2014 at West Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Frank V. Sergi (ret BFD). Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Dale M. and Evelyn D. (Robinson) Nelson. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1941 and graduated from the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health School of Practical Nursing. For many years she was employed as a LPN at Foxboro State Hospital and was also a nurse at West Acres Nursing Home for 17 years. Evelyn was a member of the Polish White Eagles Club and was a crafter who made cloth dolls, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework.
She is survived by two daughters Donna L. Cowie of Centerville, and Susan J. Barley of Spring Hill, FL; three grandchildren Dawn M. Powell and her husband Keith of West Yarmouth, MA, Heather M. (Bell) Seward and her husband Sam of York, PA and Michael D. Middleton and his wife Katie of Holiday, FL; eight great grandchildren; Kevin and Kara Bell, Riley and Thomas Seward, Spencer and Maggie Middleton and Shawn and Mackenzie Powell; three brothers Robert E. Nelson and his wife Pat of Dennisport, Richard C. Nelson and his wife Betty of W. Lafayette, IN, and Ray P. Nelson and his wife Sally of Port Richey, FL; two sisters Mildred L. Bowker and her husband Robert of Brockton and Gloria J. McManus of Newport Richey, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dale M. Nelson, Jr., and Roberta A. Nye.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday, September 23rd, 9:30 -10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
