Powderly, of Brockton, May 15, 2005, Florence M. Powderly, 90 years. Aunt of Catherine M. Smith, Anne M. Smith-Murphy, James E. Smith, Leo P. Smith, Jr., Richard H. Powderly, John K. Powderly, Carol Anne Powers and Joanne Merchant. Sister in law of Catherine M. Powderly.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 10:30 am. Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, South Easton at 11:30 am. Burial in St. Mary‘s Cemetery, Randolph. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Florence’s name to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 or St. Joseph Manor, 215 Thatcher Street, Brockton, MA 02302.

Obituary Information

Miss Powderly died Sunday at St. Joseph Manor after a period of failing health with her niece Catherine Smith at her side.

Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late James K. and Catherine A. (McDonald) Powderly. She attended Brockton public schools, graduated from Brockton High School in 1932, and was a graduate of the Boston College Evening Division, class of 1951. She had been employed by New England Telephone, and had also been employed by the Federal Government for 39 years retiring in 1975.

She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in South Easton, a member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club, NARFE & AARP. She attended the New England Sinai Alzheimer’s Day Health Program and was a former member of the Brockton Senior Citizen’s Bowling League.

She is survived by four nieces, Catherine M. Smith of Brockton, Anne M. Smith-Murphy of Cary, NC, Carol Anne Powers of South Easton and Joanne Merchant of Newport, RI, four nephews, James E. Smith of West Bridgewater, Leo P. Smith Jr. of Peterborough, NH, Richard H. Powderly of Plymouth, John K. Powderly of Lakeville and her sister in law Catherine M. Powderly.
