Florence A. (Hickey) Young Florence Ann (Hickey) Young, 94, died on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a short illness. She was the widow of Ralph Young. They had been married for 43 years at the time of his death. Born in Brockton, she was a life long resident. She was the daughter of Patrick Hickey and Margaret (Dinneen) Hickey both of County Cork, Ireland. Mrs. Young was a graduate of Brockton High School and Brockton Business College. She was employed as an Assistant Assessor in Brockton for more than forty years. She was a communicant of St. Edward's Church in Brockton and a long time member of the Lady's Sodality. She traveled extensively through Europe, Russia and the Middle East with her husband. She spent many summers on the Cape. She leaves a daughter, Kathleen A. Johnson and her husband Thomas of Falmouth; and a son, Edward Young of Brockton. her granddaughters, Melanie (Johnson) Dumas of Corna Del Mar, CA. and Atty. Lynsey (Johnson) Stehling of Chatham Township, NJ; her grandson, Mathew Young of Philadelphia, PA; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Stehling; her cousin, Joseph Carey and his wife Anne of Ireland. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 9:00AM.
