Fortunato Jose Goncalves Fortunato "Nhotchuna" Jose Goncalves, 54, of Brockton, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Boston Medical Center. He was the husband of Maria F. (Fernandes) Goncalves. Born October 6, 1956 in Cape Verde he was a son of Leopolchdina (Afonso) Santos and the late Fortunato J. Goncalves. He came to the U.S. in 1987 to Brockton where he made his home. Fortunato enjoyed fishing, playing cards, soccer and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Maria F. Goncalves; his children, Ernestina Goncalves of Boston, Bevinda Goncalves of Brockton, Louis Goncalves of Boston, Junior, Maria, Cody, Tony, Nevaeh and Janiyah Goncalves all of Brockton; his mother, Leopolchdina Santos; his siblings, Morgado Goncalves, Eugenio, Manuel and Fortunato Santos all of Brockton, Mia Andrade of Cape Verde, Ida and Louisa Goncalves and Ernestina DePina all of Brockton. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and several step brothers and step sisters, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Eza Goncalves and the brother of the late Alfredo Goncalves, Jose and Alberto Santos and Daniel Dos Santos. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Tuesday, October 11th at 8:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 9:00AM.
