IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances "Sue"
Tassinari
April 28, 2022
Frances G. Tassinari, age 93, of Avon, died on Thursday, April 28 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Norman F. Tassinari for 65 years.
Frances, known as Sue all her life to her friends and family, was born and raised in Brockton, the daughter of Arthur J. Niklason and Mary (Scriven) Niklason. After raising their sons in Brockton, Sue and Norman moved to Avon over 26 years ago.
Sue graduated from Brockton High School in 1947 with an interest in pursuing office work. Before marriage, she worked at F.W. Douglas Co, operating the payroll machine and at Kresge's. Later, after her husband's retirement, they worked part time at their son David's college textbook store, Scholars', in Bridgewater.
Sue enjoyed taking trips to the Cape with her friends, attending dances and going into Boston to visit a friend there. She and her husband loved to travel with their sons around the northeast and Canada for family vacations. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, skating and roller skating and all her life she loved animals.
Having grown up in Brockton, Sue was a fount of stories of local history and events, often noting changes in the city and talking about her childhood in Carey Hill. She loved car rides and restaurants. There wasn't a street in Brockton, Easton, or Stoughton that she didn't know as either a shortcut or the former location of a childhood acquaintance or a bygone natural feature such as woods, fields or farms.
Sue is survived by her two sons and their wives, David Tassinari and Cynthia Bliss of Middleboro, and Paul and Tracey Tassinari of Bridgewater. She also leaves a granddaughter, Michelle Quinn of Bridgewater. She was preceded in death by her brother Arthur R. Niklason of Brockton and her step-father David Ballum of Avon.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) on Saturday, May 7 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a funeral service. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery will follow.
