Obituary

Francis (Frank) J. Boyd, 93, of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at his home after a full and meaningful life. He was the loving husband of Marylou (McCarthy, Cogswell) Boyd, with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage.

Frank was born to Francis J. Boyd and Bernice (Randall) Boyd in 1932. He was a lifelong resident of West Bridgewater, where he attended high school before leaving to join the U.S. Army. Frank was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War and, upon discharge, served in the Army National Guard for six years. He spent his career working for Teamsters Local 653. In 2020, seventy-one years after leaving high school to join the Army, Frank was awarded his high school diploma.

Frank was a well-respected and revered member of his many communities. He served on the Town of West Bridgewater Board of Registrars since 1962, was a member of the Democratic Town Committee, and was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 91. He was a committed member of St. Anne's Church, where he served as Eucheristic Minister and altar server. Outside of his many jobs and roles, Frank enjoyed reading his daily Globe, gardening, annual visits to Naples, Florida, traveling with friends and family, and Enhanced Fitness classes with friends at the East Bridgewater YMCA. Above all else, Frank was a proud patriarch to his large and growing family and he cherished any and all opportunities to spend time with those he loved most.

Frank is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Marylou and his devoted children Michael Cogswell and wife Yvonne Stace, Deborah Holland and husband John, and Kristin McCafferty and husband Paul. He was a proud grandfather to Peter (Grace), Mikayla (Ed), Carolyn (Mike), Derek (Marissa), Leanne (Jeff), Sarah, Maggie, and Paul. Frank was blessed with four adored great grandchildren, Casey, Teddy, Sadie, and Mia and the family eagerly awaits the arrivals of Baby Harper in September and Baby Buckman in October. He is also survived by his dear sister Joan Whitney-Piscitelli as well as a wide circle of friends who will forever hold him in their heart. Frank was preceded in death by his brothers William Boyd, Lawrence Boyd, and Randall Boyd; his sister Doreen Burrus; and his granddaughter, Jessica Cogswell.

Frank will be fondly remembered as a good man whose kindness, integrity, humor, and loyalty leaves a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
