Obituary

Francis W. "Frank" Leavey, 80, of Middleboro, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his home with his family at his side. Born November 11, 1937 in Boston, he was the son of the late Frank Leavey and Margaret "Mardie" (Griffin) Leavey. Frank graduated from St. Mary's High School in Brookline and went on to graduate from Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. He served in the United States Air Force and was employed for many years with the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance as a Systems Analyst. Frank enjoyed singing with his family in Sound and Spirit in Natick, MA. He enjoyed acting, singing, and dancing in local theatre and singing in the choir at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton. In his younger years, Frank enjoyed piloting small airplanes. He was an avid reader and enjoyed painting at the Middleboro and Brockton Council on Aging. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Frank's wit and sense of humor brightened the lives of his family and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Frank is survived by his wife, Mary (Hogan) Leavey; his former wife, Patricia (Donohue) Leavey of Framingham; his six children, Susan Nagle and her husband Jim of Natick, Kevin Leavey and his wife Karen of Mansfield, Stephen Leavey and his wife Kate of Natick, Karen Coito and her husband Mike of Argyle, Texas, Jennifer Stearns Chase and her husband George of Woburn and David Stearns and his wife Emily of Wilmington; his twelve grandchildren, Michael Nagle and his wife Katie, Brian Nagle, Meghan Leavey, Shannon Leavey, Daniel Leavey, Matthew Leavey, Julia Leavey, Angela Leavey, Anthony Coito, Aidan Coito, Rosalie Chase and Margaret Chase; his sister, Marie Ivens of North Fort Myers, FL; his brothers, Joseph Leavey of Waban, James Leavey of Sandwich and Fred Leavey of Quincy; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Tuesday, June 12th at 10:30AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St., Brockton. Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:00PM. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Rt28) West Bridgewater on Monday from 4:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
