Francisco C. Andrade died peacefully in his sleep at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on March 4th, surrounded by loved ones.
He was a resident of Brockton for the past 59 years. He was born in the town of Funchal, on Madeira Island in Portugal; and he emigrated to the United States with his family in 1945. His family settled in Taunton, and he was educated in the Taunton school system, graduating Taunton High School in 1952 as a member of the National Honor Society. He attended Boston University after high school, and completed his bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1961, after serving four years with the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and served the Classified Branch of the 12th Air Force. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, and remained in the Air Force Reserve through his honorable discharge in 1961.
He was married to the late Barbara Lee (Pilkington) Andrade for forty years, until her untimely passing in 2003. He is survived by his sons, Gregory F. Andrade (and his spouse, Mark Jones) of Arlington, VA, Francis P. Andrade (and his fiancee, Brooke Wachtel) of Stratford, CT, and his daughter-in-law, Katherine A. Floyd of Middleboro, MA, wife of his late son, Kenneth H. Floyd, Sr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kenneth H. Floyd, Jr. (and wife Adrian) of Middleboro, MA, Brandon G. Floyd (and wife Janelle) of Belchertown, MA, Emily S. Andrade of Jersey City, NJ, and Benjamin F. Andrade of Stratford, CT. His great grandchildren include Hallie, Delaney and Macauley Floyd of Belchertown and Amelia Floyd of Middleboro.
He was also predeceased by his father, Francisco de Andrade, mother, Maria B. (Ponte) de Andrade, sister, Maria Lidia (de Andrade) Bettencourt, and brothers Gilbert, Virgilio and Heliodoro.
He was employed as a supervisor for four years at Sheridan Silver in Taunton, MA, He also worked eight years at Cumberland Farms Headquarters in Canton, MA and twenty two years at James Ferrara and & Sons, in Canton, MA before retiring in 1995.
He was a gentlemen in every sense of the word - kind, loving and selfless. He will be very much missed by all who knew him.
