Frank Russell Simmons
, 89, of East Bridgewater, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 in Brockton at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Marian T. (Holloway) Simmons.
Born April 22, 1919 in Brockton he was the son of the late Everett H. Simmons and Elsie L. (Stimmel) Simmons. Raised in Brockton, he attended Brockton schools graduating high school in 1938, before entering US Army Air Corps and then serving in WWII.
Mr. Simmons worked as a letter carrier for the US Post Office for 20 years and also worked for E.C. Hall Company for over 20 years. He was a life member of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, Charter Member of the Brockton Historical Society, Old Colony Historical Society, Old Bridgewater Historical Society, Baalis Sanford Lodge AF AM, and American Legion Post #35. He was also a member of the Masons for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Simmons; his children Paul R. Simmons and his wife Janice of Florida, Rodney B. Simmons, Sr. and his wife Edwina of Brockton and Daryl W. Simmons and his wife Margaret of East Bridgewater; his grandchildren Scott, Shawn, Rodney Jr., Lindsay, Brad, Jeff and Christopher; four great-grandchildren; his sister Dorothy Webster of Brockton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vera Donovan, Raymond Simmons, Everett Simmons Jr. and Bernard Simmons.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held in the Russell and Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Wednesday, July 16th at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Tuesday 4:00-7:00PM.
