Frederic E. LaFrance, 80, of Raynham and formerly of Brockton, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Jill F. (Caton) LaFrance.
Born December 1, 1944, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Hervey R. LaFrance and Ruth C. (Richard) LaFrance. Raised in Brockton, he attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Cardinal Spellman High School, Class of 1963. He graduated from Bentley University with a degree in Business in 1967. He then served in the United States Army Reserve and went to work with his father, Hervey LaFrance, at H&L Auto Sales and Rentals. He was a charismatic businessman, well-loved in his community for his generosity and service.
Fred made a meaningful transition into public service, bringing his skills in sales and service to a role that positively impacted his community. His work as a Sanitary Inspector for the City of Brockton Board of Health highlights his dedication to public health and the well-being of the city he cared about.
Fred married his beloved wife, Jill (Caton) LaFrance of 42 years, at St Margeret's Church on June 1st, 1968. Jill and Fred raised their four children in Brockton. They enjoyed many years traveling together to Disney World with their children, and later to Las Vegas as a couple. Fred was happiest when he was cooking and entertaining, surrounded by the friends and family he loved, taking special joy and interest in all of his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his partner of twelve years, Linda Jarvio, along with her loving family, including four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Linda and Fred cherished their time together traveling, enjoying cruises, and actively participating in the vibrant Pine Hills Community in Raynham
Fred is survived by his children, Christopher J. LaFrance and his wife Wendy, Kerrin A. LaFrance and her husband Gregory Smith and Jessica LaFrance and her partner Paul Kolbjornsen; his grandchildren, Teresa M. Patukonis and her husband Michael, Noah Brink, Genevieve Smith and Savion Smith; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and MJ Patukonis; his sister-in-law, Jean Caton; he is also survived by his nieces, Collette Lincoln, Monique Merritt, Jeannine LaFrance-Travers and Denise Sullivan. He was the father of the late Matthew C. LaFrance and brother-in-law of the late Pauline LaFrance, both of whom predeceased him.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday, December 30th at 9:30 AM thence to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St, Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:30 AM. Private cremation will follow. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29th from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM.
